2. Acceptance of these Terms
By using usedraftworks.com, requesting a trial, completing checkout, or installing or using Draftworks, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site or the software.
If you buy for a company, you confirm you may bind that company. “You” means you or that company.
We may update these Terms. The “Last updated” date above changes when we do. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the revised Terms. Where a change affects a paid monthly plan, we will email you when we reasonably can.
3. Description of goods and services
CODEXA SOFTWARE (Pty) Ltd licences Draftworks, a Windows desktop application for drafting, live-events drawing, a first architecture slice, and studio 3D. Events ships first.
What you buy or trial is a software licence, not a physical product. Depending on the layer:
- A Windows setup.exe for the build your licence covers
- A licence key for one computer
- The tools of that layer: Core (drafting and DXF), Events (venues, seating, egress, rigging, pick lists), Architecture (walls, openings, storeys, sections), or Studio (those layers plus solids, Booleans and constraints)
- Email support while a paid licence or the trial is valid, on a reasonable basis
Not included: hardware, on-site installation, engineering sign-off, or native DWG. DXF import and export is in now. Native DWG waits on ODA membership. The architecture layer is not Revit and not an IFC claim.
4. Packages & pricing
Plans are Core, Events, Architecture and Studio, plus a 7-day Studio trial. The amount shown at checkout is the amount you authorise. Prices load live from the Ops Hub. The page does not set the price. A missing price shows as “—”.
| Package | What you get | Billing | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trial | Full Studio for 7 days. Confirm your email, then the key arrives by mail. | Once · 7 days | Free |
| Core, Events, Architecture or Studio — monthly | That layer, one computer. | Monthly, until you cancel | As shown at checkout |
| Core, Events, Architecture or Studio — yearly | That layer, one computer. You keep that version. | Bought once | As shown at checkout |
Taxes
Codexa Software is not a registered VAT vendor. Invoices we issue say “Invoice” and have no VAT line. On Paddle sales, Paddle is the seller and issues its own receipt. The rand region (ZA, BW, LS, NA, SZ) pays in ZAR through PayFast. Everywhere else pays in USD through Paddle.
5. Payment — PayFast and Paddle
5.1 PayFast
- South Africa and neighbouring SADC (ZA, BW, LS, NA, SZ) pay in ZAR through PayFast only.
- You also agree to PayFast’s customer terms at payfast.io.
- We do not receive or store your full card number.
- A monthly plan renews until you cancel. The yearly option is bought once.
- The licence is issued only after PayFast confirms the payment. A return to this site is not proof of payment.
5.2 Paddle
- Everywhere outside that rand region pays in USD through Paddle. Paddle is the seller (merchant of record).
- You also agree to Paddle’s buyer terms at paddle.com/legal/terms.
- The licence is issued only after Paddle confirms the payment.
5.3 Failed payments
By paying you authorise the charge of the total shown. If a payment fails, is reversed, or a chargeback is raised, we may suspend the licence until it is resolved. We do not take cash, cheque or a bank deposit unless we agree that in writing.
6. Delivery policy (digital goods)
Draftworks is delivered electronically. There is no shipment and no courier charge.
- Trials: after you confirm your email, we email a 7-day Studio key, usually within minutes and in any event within 24 hours on business days. Check spam.
- Paid licences: after PayFast or Paddle confirms payment, we email the key and how to get setup.exe within 24 hours, typically straight after confirmation.
- You need a working email address and Windows 10 or 11.
If the key has not arrived within 24 hours of confirmed payment, email [email protected] with your name, the email used at checkout, the approximate time, and the PayFast or Paddle reference.
7. Return and refunds policy
Draftworks is digital software. The same refund rules are also on the refunds page.
7.1 Free trial
The 7-day Studio trial is free. There is nothing to refund for the trial itself. When it ends the file stays open view-only.
7.2 Non-delivery or failed activation
If we do not deliver a paid key within 24 hours of confirmed payment, or the key cannot be activated because of a fault on our side, you are entitled to a full refund of that order. Contact us within 14 days of payment. We refund within 30 days of approving the claim, back through PayFast or Paddle where that processor allows.
7.3 Change of mind
Once a paid key has been emailed and the download made available, change-of-mind refunds are not offered, except where the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 gives you a right we cannot exclude. If that right applies, we will honour it.
If you cancel a monthly plan before the first renewal and you have not used the software beyond a short look, you may email us for a goodwill review. We decide those one by one.
7.4 Monthly renewals
A monthly renewal is refundable only if you cancel and ask within 7 days of that charge, you have not kept using the software in a real way after the renewal, and PayFast or Paddle can reverse it. Otherwise cancel before the next renewal. We do not split unused days on a monthly plan unless the law requires it or we agree in writing. The yearly option is bought once. It does not renew, so this renewal rule does not apply to it.
7.5 Defective software
If Draftworks is unfit for ordinary Windows drafting because of a defect we can reproduce, and we cannot fix it or give a reasonable workaround in a reasonable time, you may ask for a refund or credit for the current paid period. The known limits in section 10 are stated up front and are not, by themselves, a defect.
7.6 Chargebacks
Email us before a chargeback. An unwarranted chargeback may end the licence. A refund will not exceed the original amount and goes back through PayFast or Paddle to the original payment method.
7.7 How to ask
Email [email protected] with the subject “Refund request”, your name, email, layer, payment date, amount, PayFast or Paddle reference, and the reason. We aim to answer within 5 business days.
8. Cancellation and renewals
- Monthly plans renew until you cancel. Yearly is bought once and you keep that version. It does not renew.
- Cancel a monthly plan from the link in your receipt, or by emailing [email protected] before the renewal date.
- Cancellation stops future monthly charges. Access continues until the end of the time already paid, unless we end it for breach.
- We may change the monthly price at renewal and will say so by email or on the site when we can. If you do not accept the new price, cancel before renewal.
9. Licence grant and acceptable use
While these Terms are met and the trial or payment is valid, we grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Draftworks on one computer. One licence, one computer. When that computer is gone, the licence is gone.
You must not:
- share, sell, rent or redistribute licence keys;
- bypass the licence check;
- reverse engineer the software except where the law allows it;
- use Draftworks for unlawful work;
- attack the licensing, download or website systems.
The software and this website stay the property of CODEXA SOFTWARE (Pty) Ltd and its licensors. You receive a licence, not ownership. The key is emailed after payment verifies.
10. Known limits
Draftworks is shipping Windows software with a stated scope. You accept that:
- native DWG is not in yet — exchange as DXF until ODA membership is in place;
- the architecture layer is a first slice, not full BIM and not IFC;
- the name Draftworks is not trademark-clear;
- you should keep your own copies of project files (.cxs);
- licence email and download are not offered at an enterprise uptime level unless a separate written agreement says so.
11. Privacy
We handle personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), and other privacy laws where they apply.
What we collect
- Name, email, and the optional role and country on the trial form
- Billing identity and transaction details from PayFast or Paddle (not your full card number)
- Licence data needed to issue and check a key
- Basic logs (IP address, browser, time) for security
- Transactional email about keys, receipts and service notices
Why
- To provide the trial, the licence, the download and support
- To take payment and reduce fraud
- To meet legal and accounting duties
- Marketing email only if you opt in, or where the law already allows it. You can unsubscribe.
Sharing
We share data with PayFast, Paddle, email delivery, Cloudflare, and our operations systems, only so they can run the service. We do not sell personal information.
Retention and your rights
We keep records for the licence, disputes, and legal retention. You may ask for access, correction or deletion, subject to those legal limits, by emailing [email protected]. You may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Cookies
The marketing site is static. Cloudflare or the payment page may set cookies needed to run checkout. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on usedraftworks.com.
12. Payment security
Card payments are taken by PayFast or Paddle in their own card environments. Checkout is served over HTTPS. Do not email a full card number. If you think a payment was not yours, contact your bank and email us.
13. Warranties and liability
To the extent South African law allows, Draftworks is provided without a warranty of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular building, show or drawing set. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude, including fraud.
Subject to that, our total liability for a paid order is limited to what you paid us for that order in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect loss, lost profit, lost drawings, or lost data, except where the law says otherwise.
14. Governing law and contact
These Terms use the law of the Republic of South Africa. South African courts have jurisdiction, without cutting rights you cannot sign away where you live.
